This celebration started brilliantly with an official ceremony in the Undercroft the day before followed by an informal party with drinks and pizza. The rain came and helped the Lakes fill up (and our puddles!) but didn’t stop the happy vibe throughout the place.
The Saturday didn’t bring much better weather but again, that doesnt stop us here in the old barn! The couple’s friend hosted the wonderful ceremony which then flowed into a day full of emotions, joy and laughter. The food was brilliant as many of the guests complimented the chefs and the place looked stylish and colourful.
Triple Scotch got the American guests reeling and spinning, many of them experiencing their first ceilidh! What a way to fill the dancefloor!
This smiley and loving couple brought so many lovely ideas to life and made all the team feel privileged to be there. Thanks for choosing our old barn!

“Why did you choose BITF? We wanted a barn wedding in the Lakes. The venue itself, the proximity to Ambleside, the inclusion of Crow How, and the inclusion of Annabel’s help and list of vendors made it the obvious choice for us.
What is your favourite space at BITF? It was all amazing, but the Shippen Bar I think was our favorite.
What are the stand out memories of your event? The Friday night welcome drinks was so fun and a great way to start the evening. Confetti in the courtyard. The ceilidh (honestly everything).
How was the team at BITF? Incredible! 10/10! All of our guests loved the bartenders!
What would you top tips be for others planning a DIY wedding? Partner with Annabel if you can! More details you put in your intro emails the better.
